Aging Beautifully: Lena Olin, My Age Twin

I am having fun looking up famous people born the same year I was. Both Steve Jobs (miss you, Steve) and Bill Gates, for example! A fine year for entrepreneurs. Bill Paxton, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Billy Bob Thorton: a Bill-ish year, too. And this gorgeous actress, Lena Olin:




Ms. Olin is a Swedish actress whose first international notice came in the sensuous, serious film The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988). It's a bittersweet movie, co-starring one of my movie husbands, Daniel Day-Lewis.

She's appeared in over 40 films, including another personal favorite, Chocolat (2000), and one I have not seen yet but is on my list: The Reader (2008). She's won Golden Globes and an Academy Award and countless accolades for her talent.

She has a natural, confident beauty and a glow that says "I am not too young, but don't think about putting me in the corner!" Keep glowing, Lena Olin, age 57.

  2. I do this, too. Isn't it fun? And inspirational. It makes me feel like less of an old dog. I share a year with Oprah, Christie Brinkley and Jerry Seinfeld to name a few. You seem so young! You and Lena are looking pretty darn gorgeous!

  8. I have loved her since I first saw 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' ... one of my all time favorite films.  Ann-Margaret is my birth year counterpart ...

    The 1st photo shows her at age 54 but that is still valid; no doubt. If she did ward off cosmetic surgery and still looks this natural, it is incredible.

  12. I loved Lena in The Unbearable Lightness of Being - we watched it only recently and it was just as good as the first time I saw it in the 80s.  She's absolutely wonderful and what a pair of beauties you two are:) xo
