Pantone Color of the Year 2013 (wait for it . . .)

. . . is Emerald! Here's what the honchos at Pantone have to say about it:

Emerald, a vivid verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being by inspiring insight as well as promoting balance and harmony.

Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.

Alrighty then. No objection from me, I love this color for scarves, jewelry, bags and more. I am not sure it's ever inspired insight, but I have been inspired to action whilst gazing at the un-mown emerald lawn. And "green" has long stood for prosperity, and more recently, environmentally sound policy. So it's a good thing. Let's appreciate emerald!:

Tory Burch Pom Pom Scarf - love this to brighten up a neutral look.

Classic necklace to likewise enliven any neckline.

I'd definitely wear this full midi skirt and mix it with some tougher boots.

Don't forget the official mug!

What's your take on emerald? Already own and love it? Looking forward to its Official Year?  : >

Have a joyous Saturday, and don't forget: Monday, December 10th is Visible Monday. Everyone is welcome to participate!

  2. I love most shades of green.  My winter wedding colors were forest green, white and black.  My bouquet held white roses mixed with ivy.   -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures

  6. I'm always so excited when Pantone comes out with THE color! Me, the color maven, has more lime green than emerald. I do have a golf skirt--golf course green I call it. Same thing, right?????

  10. Yup, all over it! My handbag is around that colour (with mid-brown accents) and I've got a top and earrings in emerald green. I think it suits me with dark hair and eyes and pale skin, but it'd suit you nicely as well with your strawberry blonde curls (so pretty).

  11. I've always loved emerald.  My mother had dark brown hair and would wear emerald around the holidays.  She looked smashing in it!

  12. It's a pretty color. I certain prefer a dark or jewel-toned green over lighter or yellowy shades. My skin tone is a bit on the yellow side, and many greens just make me look sick. But a richer tone can work. And of course using it for accessories is not a problem.

  13. Hmmm, Emerald is a pretty color.  I've always went for the lime greens, so I don't own much in this color. But I would try it, especially in accents like a scarf or jewelry.  Since I love doing make-up I'll start looking for some emerald eye shadows.  And I'll have to buy some more crystals in emerald and make a necklace or two.

  19. I love emerald green. However, I don't think that Pantone's emerald is what I think of as emerald. I have a couple of emeralds and they don't look like that. Nevertheless, I am glad it is in now. I've been on the hunt for it for a while. There is something about it with navy that I just adore. I just bought a green scarf right before they announced it.
